There's no minimum ENTER, they take into account your UMAT score and interview score as well

min UMAT score to get an interview changes every year. Last year it was 59, this year will probably be higher because all the people who were going to go for UoM med now have to come to Monash, therefore higher competition

Yes. I understand the process but I was wondering a rough ENTER estimation eg. is the cutoff mark 98.0 or something...?

I know its possible to get below 95 and do med if the UMAT is almost & interview 100%

Theres no minimum, or such

BA22 told me that there are people who get in with ENTERS which aren't even in the 90s (high 80s) who get in, and there are also those who get 99.xx? but they may still miss out.

It's best to be polite when asking questions of posters, and be aware that "stuffing up" is not so eaily defined.

The criteria process is not always fixed with arbitrary cut offs (with exception of the UMAT), and different entry schemes require different scores. Also any scores relevant to last years entry may not be applicable this year as there is no Umelb undergrad course. Entry into the Monash course will be more more competitive and therefore more difficult. Succinctly put, no-one really knows what these scores will be, so just focus on doing the best you can.

From anecdotal experience of many in my cohort, the interview was the criteria that alot felt clinched their spot. It's also the general concensus that everyone who gets in, deseves to be there, meaning that they communicated a genuine desire to be in the course as they had a passion for medicine and helping people. My advice is to ask yourself if you have these desires, i've heard stories of people freezing up when asked "why do you want to do medicine?".

Many prospective med students have asked me "what did you say?". If you are asking this sorts of questions, then you should seriously consider your future.

lacoste, yes I did do quite badly in the UMAT and by some great stroke of luck JUST made the cutoff score for an interview, which I also royally "stuffed up" lol. I was one of those "how do you answer a question like why do you want to do medicine?" people and my interviewers saw right through that - remember they interview hundreds of med hopefuls and do know their stuff.

That said, I did geniunely want to do medicine at the time, but now I'm glad I didn't get in because I'm really enjoying law. Maybe my interviewers saw into my subconscious or something ha ha

I thought that this year's intake at UoM would be the final intake?

(i.e., the demand shift will occur next year)

ninwa, (if you don't mind me asking) what kind of percentiles did you get to be at last year's cut-off score for interviews?
VCE 2008:
English 49                        Physics 45
Specialist Maths 47           Economics 44
Maths Mathods CAS 50     (2007) Chemistry 46

Aggregate 208.8
ENTER 99.90

Tutoring Methods, Specialist and Chemistry in 2009!
PM me if interested.
