^ are you doing music psych?! eeek 4 weeks before.. well done :)
i might fail (scary).. what happens if i gave it in and it was like only 1500 words or something instead of 2000 words? will i fail on not following the 10% rule?
is there anyway i could kick it out of my record as i did an extra subject this semester if i did fail :s ?

If you didn't fail 50% or more of your course load, they can't kick you out.

If you do fail more than 50% of your course load, the most they could do is send you a letter via mail and ask you to attend an Academic Progress Committee with a panel of people to explain why you failed so spectacularly.

But it's your first semester.  I doubt they won't kick you out because of this.  You can claim "having trouble settling in" and if they agree, then you'd most likely have to make an appointment with a student advisor to discuss your options.

But I'd believe it would just be a compulsory appointment with a student advisor.  Nothing as scary as an Academic Progress Committee at this stage.

^ O-o kick me out? appointments?
scary!

i just meant can they just ignore the grade as i did an extra subject this semester as if i didnt overload and music psych gets cancelled? or will it be on my record forever...

this is worth 60% of the subject, and im pretty i wont be able to reach 2000 words, so will that mean i fail?

Every subject is on your record (transcript) forever.

If you can't get to 2000 words you won't automatically fail but you'll cop a penalty no doubt. If you can hand in something reasonably competent I can't see you getting less than 50%, essay based subjects aren't hard to pass, just to do well in.

And 2nding Mavis, I started writing my 3k essay 4 weeks ago because I had bad memories of 1st year. Take it as a lesson and get all the books early :)

I thought you could request to have something removed from your record if you don't actually need it?

Mmmm, i've never heard that and I'm skeptical that they'd just remove subjects for you

I'm pretty sure you can do an extra subject and request it to be credited over other subjects. You'll have to pay for the extra subjects you do though...

its a pretty easy subject too be honest.. the first 40% of the assessment is these multiple choice questions, i have serious problems with waking up that early so i missed most lectures and my average for them was still 75% (mostly full marks on the ones i did attend). and then its one essay which if you do a lot of research weeks before it is due (and can actually find the studies unlike me....) then you will be fine as 40% of people get H1 according to the coordinator haha.

she said it a lecture that 40% of people get H1 in music psych, then suggested similar for music/health. so yeah i assume so.

Ok, after starting it I've done the first 1/4 and it's so much easier now if i just find my own articles and only use google with the ones listed (that can be found) and not the stupid library search which doesnt work at all.

i think i'll be ok :P

...except "suggest future research" part at the end may let me down a little

Why you people are looking for exotic breadth subjects is beyond me.

@vexx, Discovery search turned up an article but i'm not sure if it was the same one because you didn't give me much to go on.
