Med Interviews?

Seeing as though we have a few successful med students on here, I ask you - what do you actually do in the interview?

I've heard you do some sort of step process and go around to different stages/scenarios or something like that, but I'm curious as to the specifics...

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

I asked scocliffe09 at the VN stall and he told me he had to sign a confidentiality form...

ie - I doubt you'd get anything but vague information that you already know.

So how's chem going sexy? :smitten: ;D

I can't remember if Monash undergrad is MMI, but I'm fairly sure they changed.
Yeah, you basically transition through 8 or so stations. Each one is a different person, each one a different question/scenario.

Here's a video of a sample one if you're interested. Starts from ~5 minutes in.

I'm doing MMI prep when I get around to it, probably after exams finish.

Cheers, will have a look at that later. This maybe stupid, but do they not change the scenarios year to year hence the confidentiality?

I've never heard of confidentiality agreements lasting more than a few months so any other interviewees won't be advantaged. Ask him what's up with that

For Monash MMI:

8 interview stations plus one rest station. 8 minutes per station with two minutes between each for moving between stations/reading up on the next scenario.  Each interviewer would assess you on your responses, then all scores were tallied, then (according to Monash) weighed equally against ATAR and UMAT, for a final ranking.

The average ATAR was around 98.5 or so, with a minimum UMAT of 61 (I think), or 92nd or so percentile (what I can remember from 2009 stats, forgive my lack of references).

Not sure about expiry of the confidentiality agreement, but seeing as I've deferred and not actually begun the course, I'll hold off from communicating anything other than what has been publicly available!
2010:
ATAR: 98.70
UMAT: 99th percentile
2012:
Monash MBBS (deferred)

Just wanna say thanks for the video, just got around to watching it then - that was exactly what I wanted to know! To anyone that watched it, do you reckon the girl was good? I thought she was very good tbh, knew and understood the issues, and seemed to understand the ethical/moral/emotional approach to getting through the ordeal. Thoughts?

I am fairly sure the confidentiality agreement was a "you shall never speak about these things" one. I don't remember there being a date. I agree that the idea was probably due to the other interviewees (including the later interviews) but the most helpful thing will be doing practice interviews with similar scenarios that can be found on the net...
Just back from spending the year at Oxford. Now onto final year Monash MBBS.
