For once? This website barely makes anything. I'm setting it up so that it does make something. With more money, I can get the professional redesign done.

Collin will come in later to post how with more money at my disposal I can grow the site into something a shitload more functional and useful. For now, I apologise profusely for a broken promise and pledge to have them released by next year.

To flusher317: I see a blooming membership base and partnerships with commercial education companies for advertising revenue. I hope to make a substantial enough sum that I won't have to find part-time work, and can continue expanding the site to help all students for free. Any help and a possible solution would be fantastic and much appreciated. Thank you for the offer. :)

Costa's idea of scrambling together an e-mail list is great, but we only reach an ACTIVE audience of ~50 schools. So it's unlikely that this will have any great effect.

I don't understand this :S

I cant quote- so ill just copy paste Dan:
"If you don't see an exam production effort this year as a half-baked rush, then I don't know what is"
Dan, thats just weak. I know your copping a bashing for this, but don't go insulting the people such as cos, nik, erini ext who have worked so hard on this project. If your methods exam is "half-baked" well thats fine, but don't go dismissing the other exams like that- those people have put in so much time and effort.

I would just like to clarify that I am not arguing with anyone here. I am just discussing the potential ideas of how with the limited resources available to us this year, we can still maximise the usefulness of the exams being produced this year.
ie. I would recieve great satisfaction knowing that many people had access to another resource for their studies (the VN legal exam) rather than knowing that about 10 people on this forum who use the Legal forum would download it and use it

oh. my. god. this thread reeks of misunderstanding.

1) at all those people complaining that the mid-years exams being called off:
enwiabe is currently at uni. so are the other people who are voluntarily developing the exams. they are doing this out of their goodness in their heart, and not asking for much in return at all. the only revenue this site generate is through advertising in the small top banner, do you *really* think it's all about money?
these people have a life too, and probably more than yours.
practice exams are valuable, but it'll probably be worth about 100 minutes of your life. seriously, do you *really* think anyone is nice enough to grant you that for nothing just because you have registered in a free internet forum and have made no contribution? aren't you a bit full of yourself?
if it comes, then we should all congratulate the writers and the admin [enwiabe] for providing the great resources, if it doesn't, well, you didn't have it in the first place.
please educate me, why should they put you in front of themselves? this place has already reached many milestones that newer members may not be able to see nor appreciate, I think its time to put it into perspective that we're all students, and we probably all have better things to do other than spending time to help others for free, don't you think?

2) at those people who have a lack of imagination and forward thinking
now, WHY does the wikipedia has to copy the VCAA style and only deal with administrative things?
as an Admin to what doesn't yet exist, I know I'll be pushing to make it an information portal for all things, be it notes on specific math techniques or tips on chemistry. If you have been on BoS and seen their Biki, that is my ideal on Viki [but much better].
of course administrative FAQs will not help you achieve better in your exams, but that is ridiculous to assume that everything on there must do that. tell me, are you going to think your methods textbook will help you to A+ your psych exam? didn't think so.

that's all for now
people just gotta stop whinging and stop taking things for granted

on that note, my congratulations to everyone who has contributed to this site, without your volunteering this site wouldn't be where it is today.

I would be happy to construct 1 & 2 exams for further maths, if theres interest in it. But I'd need someone to help with matrices and number patterns, as i didn't do those modules.

I'd step up and write both methods exams if needed, since I still know the course really well.

The Viki has been in the works for a few months as well, how much progress has it actually made so far?

None of us with our fancy titles can actually log in and look at it. Last time I asked it was empty, but that was ages ago
To my knowledge, all the viki admins/editors have written one article to start with as asked so that when it was launched 'within a few weeks' there would be content there, and this was finished months ago, and nothing has happened since then

Would this at all help with the collation of a schools email address:

http://www.eduweb.vic.gov.au/schoolsonline/

In addition to the postal addresses of schools (both government and private), that website also lists the email addresses of many government schools. It should be fairly trivial to write a little app to scrape all that info. The website also lists the websites for all of the schools, so for any of the schools without email addresses listed on the Schools Online, you could manually check their website for a website addresses.

Basically, I believe there is an attempt to unify the forum user database with the Viki one...

Costa... y dont we release the legal exam free of the VN logo?

That way our "half-baked rush" wont taint Daniel's good name.

I understand and relate 2 ur situation regarding time constraints Daniel, but I do resent u implying that Costa and I haven't put effort in2 this.
The exam is 17 pages, and our discussion of the exam extends to 10 pages of correspondence so far.
I imagine Nick and others have put in similar effort.

Now, I'm not looking 4 an argument with u, but keep in mind that u're the 1 wanting 2 profit from this Daniel, not us.
U need 2 b careful when u go making statements like that, especially when ppl have gone out of their way 2 find the time 2 do these things.

Speaking of, plz send me that 3rd draft when u're done with it Costa.
