As above, just wondering what area is more popular, and also if you prefered your selected area?

Doing Further Electronics. I'm not sure about the other detailed studies, but I find further electronics very simple and the VCAA questions asked are not hard at all (Expecting to get them all right for the coming exam).

For that do relativity or materials/structures, do you ever come across difficult questions? Further electronics always seems to have one obvious answer for all the questions.

Relativity is the easiest out of the ones we're doing.

It'll probably take up 10 minutes in exam time.

What is relativity like? I wanted to do it but our school choose further electronics instead. Is it mostly theory based or is there a bit of calculations involved?

Further electronics takes pretty much the same amount of time, maybe even less if I'm on a roll :P

Yeh further is quick, you can do half of the questions in you head in reading time and just fly through them in no time flat, and there is not much thinking involved.

Relativity is nice. To be honest at first i found it really hard, as did the rest of the year level. We would complain about it every lesson to the teacher and got angry as to why we weren't doing structures. The teachers would agree that it was hard but would say that you only need formulas to do it. So it is hard conceptual-wise (at first) but it is easy once you get a grasp of the theory as it all fits together nicely. It is very interesting too. Time dilation, length contraction, gain of mass, events that may appear to be happening simultaneous in one person's view but not in another's. These all occur as you travel at speeds approaching the speed of light.

You're starting to make me wish i had of tried to talk the teachers into relativity at the end of last year. :-\
and plus the harder it is, the more gap over the rest of the cohort. because further is easy you make a silly mistake or miss a question (because i didn't see it!) on a sac and you fall behind the others. There is no buffer with further electronics.

Hmm actually it's been told by my teachers that students doing relativity generally do well. Maybe that's just because a smaller number of schools tackle it. Such an interesting topic, as to how things work? I always wanted to know what would happen if i traveled at the speed of light. I just think that once you learn it you barely have to think while doing practice questions, focus more on motion and electricity. Yes you should have done it :)

Most of my class wanted to study relativity, but we're doing Materials and structures, which i hate :\

Did you guys get to choose your detailed study?
We're doing Materials and Structures, however, I would have preferred to do Further Electronics

Nah, wish we did though, last couple of years our school did materials and now this year moved to further electronics because of the change of teachers.

Apparently, our past students hated doing Further Electricity after doing Electricity & Photonics, so there was a swap to Materials

Some structure questions actually take a decent amount of calculations ffs.
