Is there a strong possibility of experimental design? My teacher feels that it's been nailed over the past few years, so there's a possibility it might not be on this year's exam.
I'd be shocked if there wasn't a question on it. It's been in every single exam.
Also, I find TSFX's suggestions pretty useless. For one I think it's highly likely that a question testing a concept relating to the plasma membrane will come up (as it usually/always does) and is obviously fundamental. Photosynthesis and respiration, too, are usually tested in one way or another. Most of the "possibilities" there are just as possible as anything else. Rational drug design is frequently tested so I'd upgrade that to a high likelihood.
And finally, just because something is not explicit within the study design gives no reason for it not to be examinable. Any logical extension can be tested. Water I see as crucial to organisms as it is a medium in which many reactions occur in and is important in many processes that you study such as osmosis. It is part of the cellular environment. pH is also important when it comes to things such as enzyme function and immune system function.
