I remember being taught that in year 10! Except ours was:

T .... opic sentence
E .... xplanation
E .... vidence
L .... inking sentence

And I'm pretty sure it was for text essays rather than analysis.

But I've been told by at least two teachers (who are both examiners) not to use this unless you're absolutely desperate ...

Link back to stimulus.. err, what goes there?
Mandark: Please, oh please, set me up on a date with that golden-haired angel who graces our undeserving school with her infinite beauty!

The collage of ideas. The music of reason. The poetry of thought. The canvas of logic.

Well I am desperate, considering that my teacher taught me nothing, so I'll use that lol ...

Oh as for linking it back to the stimulus you normally just have to say something like "Using (technique) the writer enables the reader to (see his/her view, or whatever it does lol)

question: how much do you need to use the extra material in the point of view?

in my practises, i didnt use any extra material at all.
it only helps when u got no arguments, and basically reading the article u have to analysis will give alot of arguments already.
but some times when it give u statistic/quotes u can use;
i never tried that tho, i prob not even going to spend time reading them in the exam
