;D ;D

Is it true that the GAT can really only benefit you? As in exam scores can either go up or stay the same, and not go down?

Is this the case with internal SACs as well?

In ILP we got told that if the cohort does poorly in the GAT, our scores will be affected.

Not sure if serious.

Exam scores can only stay the same or go up, not moderated down in the process. Not too sure about how it works for SACs though.

How many words do people recommend for each of the essays? They say that we should spend 30mins each.

Their "suggested time" is only 30 mins per writing piece, so anywhere from 400-(however much you can write) words would be acceptable. That said, the minimum of 400 words would actually need to holistically address the information given

No one knows what will be on the GAT. As previously mentioned, the whole Rebecca Black thing is a joke amongst VCE students.

If you wanna take it seriously, have a look on the VCAA website for previous GATs to give you an idea about what the questions will be like.

pdf download...

I downloaded it, but I don't see the writing task on the PDF.

It just has instructions on what to do, not what the actual writing task is...

Maybe I interpreted the statement wrong ???

In relation to the OP, I think that the examiners are looking for something that has a bit of a creative flair. The first time I took it in '06 I thought 'informative piece' meant 'fact sheet', but actually you could do it in the style of a media release or a newspaper article. With the opinion pice, make it a bit different, put a new insight or angle on the issue rather than something straightforward which 90% of the state is going to argue. That made the difference between a 35 and a 47 (or something like that, I don't actually remember my GAT scores).
