Just make sure you don't go near Accounting!! Most other commerce stuff I've heard is alright. Accounting Reports and Analysis has to be the worst subject I've done in my life though. Avoid it like the plague.

ARA is pretty much a repeat of VCE accounting.  But yes, I've heard horror stories from accounting as well.  But if you're a commerce student, you should be doing ARA and ATA because what's the point of holding a commerce degree if you can't even read an accounting spreadsheet?

I've heard management is also pretty dry as well but that's only from one person.

EDIT: Beaten with ARA.

I did Intro Micro as my breadth in the semester just gone. It's odd, despite finding the content really dry, this subject had my favorite lecturer and tutor by far.

The exam was a bit of a disaster for me, mostly due to the fact it was the same day as Chem, pretty confident i did enough to scrap a P though. The content is't really that difficult, and with a little bit of effort high grades should be easy, especially considering 15% of the marks are for a very simple mid sem test and turning up to tutes.

If you have never touched accounting before ARA is death. But yes, all those who did accounting in VCE found it a breeze.

All I can say is, thank god I never have to do accounting again! :P

Who was your tutor? and any heads up on any tutors that are great?

Thanks

ARA is same as vce accounting pretty much. It is ATA that kills

How much harder is ATA? I just did ARA and am getting a little concerned about the workload for ATA - everyone seems to hate it!!

It's an easy H3+ subject.  I had chem on the same day as well and I managed to pull off a H2B.  Even though I was disappointed because I knew I could have done better, I'd say it was a good sacrifice for Chem haha

lol, its pretty easy, just do the practice questions that gets put up prior to the exam. The lecturer tells you what topics each question on the exam covers so you're basically set if you can be motivated in doing some work for it.

How far apart were the exams? Is H1 extremely difficult to achieve?

I remember the one for ARA was totally useless. the person replying would say something like. "Go back to your lectures and check there." "Go ask your tutor" "What do you mean, can you repeat the question".

The exam timetable is different every semester.  It just so happened that Micro and Chem fell on the same day.

It's a level 1 subject and designed to be completed in first semester for commerce students because it's a core.  As such, the subject is easy if you apply yourself.*

*ACM 1 & definitely ACM 2 are two famous but not surprising exceptions unfortunately.

worst. subject. ever.

i've hear it's four times as hard as ARA....

OT: Micro is pretty easy, it's also interesting, i wouldn't worry too much about getting ahead, if you understand demand and supply you can go to sleep for the first 4 weeks, pay attention to theory of firm, and then have fun with game thory (best topic ever as gloamy said)

any heads up on any tutors that are great?

Thanks

I had Daniel Mu, he was really good and always happy to answer any questions you had
