What are the options for a prospective geneticist who doesn't get into honours in genetics? Are there ways to reapply, other courses to bridge the gap, etc? Or are you completely bust if you don't get the marks for honours? Seems a bit daunting if the bachelor becomes a dead end...

You could always apply for Masters.

They both require 65 averages, don't they?

I'm not entirely sure for Masters, but at least 65 is required for Honors. You could also take a few years off from uni and get some experience in a lab before you jump back in.

Just found this.

"Students who successfully complete the coursework and research Postgraduate Diploma in Science courses with an H2A (75%) average are eligible to apply for M.Phil - Science and PhD-Science candidature."

Sounds like a tough year, but I suppose it's a last resort type of thing. Anybody know any other options besides honours, masters and that diploma?

Bit of a bump, but does anybody know where to get work experience in a laboratory, besides at uni?

EDIT: Might make a seperate post in the main forum, too.

With regards to honours programs, anyone know why honours is no longer offered in Maths and Stats?

Looks like they're trying to encourage maths majors to enter the MSc instead, I suppose.
