Biomed, Biomed Scholar and/or Biomed/Commerce

So, firstly, is there any advantage to doing:
 - Biomed @ UoM
 - Biomed @ Monash
 - Biomed Scholar Program @ Monash

both for general studies and if I were trying to get into PG Med?
The scholar program always talks about this "accelerated and challenging program", but what does this actually mean as opposed to the normal Biomed?

Also, Biomed/Commerce, could you do the full monash actuarial program - even if it is only in it's early stages of accreditation? And if I were to do all of the relevant actuarial subjects, what flexibility does this give me for other commerce subjects, and hence, a career in commerce related fields?

Sorry for being vague, just getting the pre-UMAT jitters  :uglystupid2:

Haha last time I looked into it, they were only just gaining part 1, which I think is less than UoM which has parts 1 and 2 if I'm not mistaken?

Yeah UoM is fully accredited, Monash has Part 1 already, and will have part 2 by 2013 (in time for anyone starting uni from this year onward for single degree)

That said if you're talking Monash going Biomed/Actuary sounds a bit like you still want your fingers dipped in med. You can still enter med program via gamsat irrespective of your course if you go to Monash. A friend of mine did Comm/Law, finished it, and is now doing med :) So you don't necessarily need to pick something Science/Biomed related

Hmmm, well I don't wanna take a gap year, bugger hahaha

And yeah, still considering Med, but just need to find a decent backup plan! I hear both good and bad about actuarial though, hence why I want to keep my options open...

Nooo haha, you just enter Monash with a Bachelor of Economics or Bachelor of Commerce /whatever second degree you choose, and by the time you're in second year it will all be accredited, and so will the stuff you would have done thus far.
