I cared more about my UAC preferences anyway (where I had two preferences: PhB, then Advanced Science, both at ANU).

A rookie error. I think it's because most careers councilors in Melbourne don't even stop to consider the idea of recommending unis outside of Melbourne to students. Mine only did so because I specifically mentioned that I was interested in ANU (my older sister was already going there at the time).

Yeah she's applied for Arts there. I think she'd rather do Arts at UoM if she gets in though.

yeah they probably assume students aren't prepared to move interstate for uni.
