Oh, MBBS is Bachelor of Medicine/ Bachelor of Surgery

Thanks Alana! Although I highly doubt I'll get in the 90s with my 4 subjects... although I have no idea what to expect.

lol, thanks :) However I didn't apply for medicine this year, as I didn't have chemistry :P and I was pretty sick

I'll either go into Nursing or Science in 2009, and then go into postgrad med. However, I'll probably do another year of VCE next year with a few subjects (methods + chemistry), and apply as a year 12 applicant into MBBS at Monash.

I'm going to wait and see what my results are first before I make any decisions.

can anybody tell me the difference between
- optometry @ UoM
and
- orthoptics @ LaTrobe http://www.latrobe.edu.au/orthoptics/
?

If i was able to get 99.95 i would have probably done optometry, is orthoptics the same? it seems to be extremely similar, and you only need ~70.00

I'm guessing that 'orthoptics' is more specialised in its field. For example, optometry at Melbourne can convey a wide range of different areas related to optometry, including orthoptics, whereas orthoptics is a specialised course which is directly related to the examining of vision and similar topics only covered in that particular course. I guess because of this, the ENTER you need is significantly lower than that of optometry, because less is required, and less is included within the course. Also, at UoM, more demand for the course is evident as opposed to La Trobe, so the ENTER score would be significantly higher.

I don't really know if this is right, but it's just my way of thinking about it. :P

yeah you're probably right
but remember guys, the required ENTER is purely due to SUPPLY AND DEMAND, nothing at ALL to do with the course and its content.

if half of victoria wanted to do a "Bachelor of how to shower in the morning" it would have a super high required ENTER, even though it is super easy

That's mostly true, but the faculty has some discretion over how high an ENTER cut-off can be

Also, cobby had the same questions as you
