i reckon it doesnt matter what university you go to...

its just how much hard work you put into it and what your results end up as. :)
Pity employers don't necessarily see it that way...

Then what do they see?

Does Canberra have that "small town" feel to it humph?
I'm not sure really. It's by far the smallest place I've ever lived, but it's still very much a capital city. And living on campus means you have a pretty hectic social life, so it doesn't feel quiet at all. You only notice that the 'berra isn't that large by the fact that the traffic is never bad like it is in Melbourne, and the shops aren't open as much. That and the city centre, though never really empty, isn't always busy like Melbourne.
Ahh, might end up going to Canberra for a couple of weeks later on this year.

I want to move to Canberra... ANU FTW! :)
:) It is rather awesome.

Maybe I can go there instead of Monash in a couple of years time? What is the average you would need in a law course to transfer to law at ANU? :)
I'm guessing if you'd be transferring from VU then you'd probably need at the very least a Distinction average, most likely a fair bit higher even. You might have to repeat some subjects too (this would probably be pretty standard when transferring from VU to any Group of Eight university).

I guess as long as I get the most prestigious law degree in Australia I'm happy, no matter what circumstances I have to withstand. :)
Hmmmm I'm not sure ANU's law degree is the most prestigious in Australia (maybe in international law, but probably not corporate). I don't think there's a great deal of difference between LLB at Monash/ANU/USyd/UNSW even. Though I think UNSW might be a bit behind the rest.
So I'm guessing for corporate law, I should just stay in Melbourne and go to Monash? Do they all equal the same degree in the end? I guess ultimately, I want to practice law in Melbourne, so would Monash be the better choice?

Well many employers note that a degree at a more prestigious university often implies that the person has learnt more and done more challenging subjects than a person with a degree from a less prestigious university. Even if the person with the "lesser" degree has a higher average than the other person, some employers may just put this down to the fact that they believe that the subjects at the less prestigious university were less challenging and less extensive than that at the more prestigious university.
Thus in many cases employers will favour people with degrees from more prestigious universities due to their belief that these people have more knowledge and are at least as intelligent as people with degrees from less prestigious universities.

Getting your law degree in Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra etc makes no difference about where you eventually practice law, as they do all equal the same degree in the end. But yes, if you wish to study corporate law, then I see no reason why you should choose ANU over Monash, as I'd expect that Monash would be at least as good as ANU, if not better, in that regard.

apparently
deakin.. focuses on commerical law.
is that the same? O.o

DEAKIN WEBSITE:
Orientation towards commercial law
A distinctive feature of the Law Program is its deliberate orientation towards commercial law. The Deakin LLB degree course is one of the few in Australia with a specific and exclusive focus. This has been achieved by including several core commercial units in the course, plus offering an elective program that consists predominantly of units drawn from the area of commercial law.

Are commercial and corporate law the same thing? ???

They're quite similar

Commercial Law: Commercial law regulates corporate contracts, hiring practices, and the manufacture and sales of consumer goods.

Corporate Law - Business Law: Business can be undertaken in various forms. In many instances, ways of doing business are governed by law. In others, they are determined by the preferences of the parties involved, based upon a large number of business, tax and personal considerations.

i think deakin's course has an emphasis on commercial law and is quite respected in that regard, despite not being a 'sandstone' institution.

sandstone insitution?

what do you mean by that?
