humphdogg or anyone else in the know, just a question about scholarships. i got the national undergrad one ($12500pa, which replaces the old $10000 one they had). i also applied for phb arts and know that it has a bursary of $5000pa. however i'm not sure whether you can hold two scholarships at once, or whether the undergrad one excludes you from obtaining any others. trying to work out how much i need to slave away to pay rent, so would be great if someone could help. thanks.

You can only hold one of these at once (I got offered a PhB one first, then got upgraded to an NUS in second round offers). $12,500 should definitely cover accommodation though, but you might be a bit short on spending money for drinks and food etc, so you might wish to apply for a part time job. Just out of interest, which colleges are you applying for? Did you apply for the Charles Hawker scholarship at Burgmann college? (You can hold that one as well as the NUS)

Congrats on the scholarship btw It's awesome to see more VNers coming to ANU (and doing PhB in particular ).

Quite possibly a bad idea. Which was your first preference/what are you trying to change it to? Somewhere like Fenner/Ursies it wouldn't be that hard to get into, but Bruce/Johns/Burgie/B&G will have a very tight list I'd imagine.

it says first semester exams end on a saturday 27th june. some people do finish early right, for different courses? how do i find this out?

and it also says, autumn session ends, winter session begins...what are sessions? lol. i hope there's some holidays after those exams..

also, i just noticed that you can apply online for courses you want to do...um, that's not for new students is it? thought you only had to apply via UAC

Exam schedules come out half-way through first semester. Generally the subjects with the most students have exams near the beginning of exam period, and with the least students near the end (though this is a very rough guide). So if you're doing Comm/Law, say, then most of your exams will be in the first half of exam period. I've finished as early as a week before the end of semester, and as late as the last day. It varies.

Those sessions are for students who want to do subjects during the holidays. Often PhB students do an ASC during a holiday session, and sometimes students who fail a subject or need to do a prereq before the next semester do a subject during the holiday session. Very few subjects are offered during the holidays though. So it's nothing to worry about, these sessions are holidays for pretty much everyone.

Doesn't sound like anything that should apply to yr12 students, UAC should be enough.

Is there a lot of partying and all because that's my scene generally? Do you recken i could get accepeted into one of these colleges with an ENTER of over 85?

Amm are you sure you get accepted straight away into one of their colleges as long as you're accepted into one of their courses? i read somewhere that it's tight competition to make it into these colleges so they pick the best or something?

yeah, im 90% sure re: the accommodation price. humph or eriny might wanna confirm though.
as for getting accepted, you do get accepted as a first year, for sure. they have a first year guarantee so yeah.
