thanks eriny.

I'm positive the default date for booking accomodation was 1st April, then reading more says the semester starts 23/2. So i'm a little worried I might have made a mistake with that.

I'm guessing letters will come tomorrow?

And I'l have to travel up to Canberra soon to clarify everything.

Letters for accommodation? I think they actually arrive through email.

If you're looking for the offer letter sent by ANU themselves saying that you got in to your course, you might be in for a bit of a wait, unfortunately. Last year it took over a week.

Do you remember how long it took for you to get accommodation offers Eriny? Apparently Ursula have already sent out offers.

@Marbs - not sure if this is what you were referring to but online applications for accommodation closes today.

I was in NZ when the enrolment pack came and accommodation offers. Had to fax some things across, I think.

Should we accept our offer online now or wait until we receive our enrolement pack in the mail?
UAC gives a link to http://www.anu.edu.au/sas/admission/accepting_your_offer/index.php

Also how do I unenrol form UoM? Just don't turn/fill in anything and let the offer lapse?

Other random q:
I'm on my red p plates.
If I want to drive in Canberra do I still use my normal p plates and obey the Victorian rules eg. passenger restriction?

Hmmm, looks like accommodation is going to be very tight again this year. Just checked my email and the dean of Bruce has sent a message to all current residents:

"Hi all,

This mailing list is a little out of date, so I’m sorry if this message isn’t relevant to you. I’m writing to find out whether you are thinking of not returning to Bruce or of moving out if you’re currently in Packard. Applications to the ANU have been exceptionally strong this year and we’ve had virtually 100% acceptance of our offers of accommodation so far. This means we have very few rooms left (again!), even though the new Unilodge has opened and is filling fast. Our applicants are amazing and it would be great to take a whole bundle of them (or at least another 10).

So, if you are thinking of moving out, please let me know now so I can help out a new first year. If I can’t fit them in over the next couple of days the university will have to find some other temporary accommodation for them and then they’ll be signed up to something they can’t get out of even if you don’t return in February. We’ll loose all these great people as well as you and Bruce will be much the poorer for it.

Please email [email protected] or [email protected] as soon as possible.

Thanks for your help,

Dierdre

^ Yeah, Ursula isn't bad. It's much better than having to live at a hotel like some students had to last year.

Should we accept our offer online now or wait until we receive our enrolement pack in the mail?

From memory, last year you could go online and say that you intended to enrol, but it was optional. If that's what it says on your UAC offer, then don't worry about it. Otherwise, I think it's a fairly short process online.

As for the UoM offer, you can either let it lapse or I think you can go online and decline the offer. If you can, it's probably better to choose the latter option, in case it means that someone else can get a later round offer earlier on.

I drive with my Victorian P plates (I'm on the green ones, so it doesn't matter that much). I've never really checked if the same road laws apply interstate. If you were pulled over, I doubt if the police would know much about the Victorian passenger restrictions, although I'd personally play it safe, just in case. Also, I've heard that you can actually convert your Victorian license to an ACT one (which means that you can buy fireworks!) as long as you get proof of residency. I could never be bothered doing it, because it keeps me in the same position anyway, but it could be worth looking into. I think the license stuff is dealt with in civic, near the library they have there.
