yeah ! snow is great ! :) it was real snow ! lol i remember i went to this palace .. i forgot where .. and it had like a lake of ice yeah .. and this poor man .. he was like . poking his foot to see if he could step on it without the ice breaking . and he ended up falling in o.o ! my cousin had to quickly grab him back out ! poor man lost so much face .. didn't even talk for the rest of the tour ..

yeah my friend said it's impossible for the principal to write it cos apparantly the exam writer is not meant to be in contact with any students or anything to do with the candidates at all . or something ? :) maybe it was to do with the examiner marking the papers ? cos aren't schools marked in batches ?!

about whether the principle wrote the exam, im not 100%sure cos i heard from other people, but if you look at the vce high scorer in the herald sun last year, 70-80% of people who achieved study score of 40+ are from mont albert cultures school.

and yeah i was in beijing this jan too, i love snow

maybe they're just good at chinese?

trinity grammar (I think) has the chief assessor for English ... I'll be interested to see how many of them get 40+ ... but I doubt there'll be much correlation between having an assessor and getting good marks. We have 2 or 3 teachers who are English assessors and you don't see our school getting a billion 50s in English :P

actually theres people who are really bad at chinese, even having trouble speaking getting very good marks, so i dont think they are just good at chinese, but anyway you guys still have to try your best for the exam

lol i know, vce system is pretty unfair, i know alot of people who are doing both chinese SLA, and ESL.
and some malaysian who are very good at english, still can do esl, as vcaa doesnt count malaysia as english speaking country, but they do speak good english

yes i know some aussies that do alright ! my problem with the writing .. is that my teacher told me to cut all the fei hua . lol every essay i write, whether it be chinese or english .. has so much irrelevant crap .. like the grammar is beautiful .. but .. it has nothing to do with the topic . so just need to try my best and write straight to the point within the limit !

yehhh ..some singaporeans manage to get into chinese sl beginners .. even my friend . lol and her chinese is super good . umm . malaysians .. first language is bahasa malaysian .. second language is english . BUT most of the malaysians that come here .. are malaysian chinese . which means . that they are better at english than malay . which irks me also ! cos it's soooo unfair ! i know this girl . her english i would say is better than mine and her accent is soo aussie but she's doing esl because she came from malaysia 4 years ago ! like wth -______- and also i know people that are doing ESL and literature ! LIKEEE. how is it that they can own lit and still manage to be applicable for esl ? -_-

  我都不知道这些说发,我要是在家里谈这个,我就说olympics 呵呵. 我总是加很多英文词,因为我知道的中文词不够 >_<

what are the requirements for getting into SLA as opposed to beginners? and what about chinese first language lol. I've seen some of those exams, they're not that hard ....

unlike english, in chinese exam only have a very small part on essay writing, so don't have to worry too much, i found the listening section quite challenging, they spoke quite fast and wasn't enough time.

and i heard from my friend who did chinese first language, the listening was very unfair cos the person spoke very fast and used very very strong beijing accent, and used slang terms such as 皇城根, people not from beijing couldn't even understand it.

A lot of the time I recognise most of the characters you guys are saying, but they are in an order I have never seen before. So it's like, I can read it but it is making absolutely no sense.

Oh and I learnt olymics as what nina said but with 'yun dong hui' at the end. =)
