... They NEVER 'account'ed for people w/ a 1st pref. for melb. They gave you an offer regardless of WHERE your monash preference was, just so long as you *had* one.

The overall volume of interview offers will not change much. If it (the cut-off score) goes up, it will go up marginally to perhaps 61 or 62.

And I recall saying "IF" it was a 76 *overall*. When people look at their UMAT results, it's confusing. Often, people get confused between what they're reading and what looks like a 76 percentile might be a ridiculously awesome score.

... No it isn't. Don't spread misinformation, and think before you scare people.

Before the Melbourne Model, EVERYONE who applied to Melbourne applied to Monash, yeah? So Monash extended interviews to the FULL cohort of people. So the UMAT score required for the interview will not go up. What will probably go up is the ultimate UMAT and ENTER required to actually get in.
How 'bout you do some research before you spread misinformation. Not to sound too aggressive, but even presuming that "Before the Melbourne Model, EVERYONE who applied to Melbourne applied to Monash, yeah?", which is only approximately true, Monash will probably be issuing less interviews this year as:
- they do not have full-fee places anymore so there are less places overall
- no longer have to account for people with Melbourne 1st pref

Also, each year there is more competition. There is an increasing trend in number of people sitting UMAT.
gabrielle_ if it was 76 overall, you probably have an interview offer! The overall score for an interview last year at monash was 59.
Stop saying that, she explicitly mentioned it was 76%, therefore, though I am loath to say it, there is little to no chance of getting into medicine at Monash at the least(though of course there are other unis).

Better to err on the side of pessimism than to give false hope.

Why don't you research your sources? Mr Rudd specifically said the loss of revenue due to abolishing of full fee places will be covered by the federal government, so to keep the number of places available the same.

Yep, places will stay the same, volume of applications will stay the same. Interview offer UMAT will stay the same. But, with no Melbourne places anymore, the final scores required (UMAT + Interview + ENTER) will probably go up quite considerably.

'Such is life'

amen.

Anyhow...I'm about to log in. I'm suprisingly not that nervous....I did MedEntry and all the scores I got were 0-20 percintile and the highest was about 60. I think MedEntry hasn't helped me with UMAT Prep, but instead preparing for UMAT results. However, I still have hope. Ok I'm going to shutup now and long in!!

I'll admit that I only offered that '1st pref' as possible speculation, but you still ignore my point on full-fee places and increased candidate numbers.

at least give her enough credit to read the huge letters "Overall Score".

I dislike your overly optimistic tone, lol.

But weren't full-fees offered entirely independent of no. of CSPs? As in, I think that refers to the number of CSPs remaining the same, but no full-fee = less places in total.

you have successfully ignored my (and his) reply re your number of places

and I highly resent your condescending tone.

My sincere congratulations to those who achieved well (esp dcc's gf, if it is indeed the overall score), and consolation to those who had higher aims. They say you will always get to where you want, it just depends on which route you take =]

Only in response to his choice to selectively ignore my post.

Sif reading my tone as condescending. I'm sorry if you do feel offended, but I only escalated my original post in response to the accusatory implications. After all, none of this actually affects me, don't take me too serious k?

edit: lol karma went down. Nice, too much + for some reason anyway. So Mao, why so serious?

for those with crappy umat scores, like 48 for example, does that rule you out from doing stuff like pharmacy/dentistry etc?
