Has anyone taken a gap year to do the UMAT again. Please share your thoughts, I'm really considering doing this!

Well, could you at least tell me where I was being condescending, so that I won't do it again?

though I am loath to say it, there is little to no chance of getting into medicine at Monash at the least(though of course there are other unis).

@ Chocoholic - I know someone who did this and they were still unhappy with their final result. I guess you have to ask yourself was there something really lacking in your preparation or did you severely underperform? Because at least now there's always Grad. Med. at UoM via Biomedicine.

OR get 99.90...which is how high UoM reckons you need to score to prove to them that you're intelligent enough to do med. As if 99.80ers are not smart enough or something...

Have you considered interstate?

For future reference (i.e. those for next year), probably ppl should just say what they reckon the cut-off will be and leave it at that. It just seems all the more shattering if you say it bluntly and directly referring to them, even if they do ask for it.

yeah. I'm applying interstate. The only unis that would take me with my UMAT score are JCU, and Bond(which I'm not applying to) and maybe Tassy. But I still haven't made a decision, I'll work it out once I recieve my offers and then I might defer if I don't get accepted into med anywhere.

um is 55 possibly a good score, like it is possible for the cut off to be that low for med?

yeah that's what I'm afraid of. I don't want to 'waste' a year and in the end have the same results. I did medentry, but I ran out of time and ended up doing their practice exams in the week or two leading up to the umat. But the thing is heaps of people say theses courses don't make a difference, so I don't know if I actually would of done better If I prepared more productively.

55 is aright, the cutoff your talking about is dependent on which unis u looking at. I do know in Monash last year the cutoff score was 59 but for this year it depends...

Check out MSO, there's a whole thread on what scores(UMAT and ENTER) people got last year for their offers.
