SAT: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SAT

UMAT is for undergraduate entry, GAMSAT you do not need to worry about, that's if you want to get into postgraduate medicine

Ok, because our school actually had people come from the American embassy talk to us about American University.

Part of the requirement for most American Universities is the SAT, which is administered by the College Board (I have a friend in my Spech class planning to sit this exam soon, he is in Year 12). Most American high school students sit the SAT in Year 11.

They also look at other criteria for example your VCE, if you do any APs (you won't) and often a written application. The process is also quite decentralized (notice the American spelling) in that where you'd apply to each university that you want in America (or wherever your sports scholarship will take you) rather than here in Australia where you'd apply via VTAC.

For physio, first of all, physio is a post-grad degree in America, you can't enter the course without a bachelor's degree. Secondly, next year, you will need to sit the UMAT if you want to be considered for a place at Monash (there are unis that don't need the UMAT, La Trobe being one of them). You won't have to worry about the GAMSAT as that is for med only (post-grad med)

The IB would be more known in the States, but remember that Australian students have been heading off to study in the states for a long time, so I would imagine most American universities have heard of the VCE. They also usually have multiple criteria that they consider before admitting students (e.g interview, SAT scores, application forms etc.) although you won't have to worry about that  if you get your scholarship.

tripzedomain: If you're keen on doing physio in the states, you would have to look at the prerequisite requirements for the DPT (Doctor of Physical Therapy) qualification in the states. Their Bachelor Degree tend to be more broader than ours where you will have to take courses not related to your major (it's also longer too, 4 years in the US vs. 3 years here in Australia).

Also, your scholarship may not cover the cost of a qualification beyond your Bachelor's.

Im pretty sure the scholarship covers my undergrad degree, which lasts for 4 years, do you know if a DTP can be run at any college?, or is it run by a seperate uni specifically dedicated to physio?

The major unis would have such a course running, but you'd have to research that yourself.
