Hey does crossing over occur in Prophase I or Metaphase I because I've had some differring opinions on it

IPMAT ??? quite common! but remember <I> is not part of mitosis ..

I just use "I PMAT C": eeep-mat-see

Metaphase - chromosomes line up at the middle
Anaphase - chromosomes move away (or apart)

My teacher isn't very conventional but we were told by him to remember it as:
Interphase - (Not part of mitosis) Indian
Prophase - People
Metaphase - Make
Anaphase - Awesome
Telophase - Telemarketers

(I apologise for the generalisation/racism) I'm not trying to be offensive, but that helps me remember it.

Toothpick - your way of remembering what happens in Metaphae and Anaphase is really good!!
