...Stay away from the politics threads.

What? Why? You can learn a lot from those threads.

The newbies get slaughtered when they venture in and idly post without a strong conviction and support 4 their contention, and empirical/scholarly evidence.

Aside from that, they should b focusing on exam revision right now, not left-wing/right-wing politics and crackpot political ideas ...unless they're studying politics, that is.
In that case, they should dive right in.

It's their choice. I don't appreciate you immediately diverting people away from the politics thread. It's your opinion, you're entitled to it, but I'm also entitled to make a counter-claim. That's all I wanted to say.

Let it rest Mao, he's said his piece.

Lol..I'm trying to get an ENTER of at least 90...41 raw meaning its scaled to like 38.7
With my current SAC scores i doubt i'll get anywhere close to 99.

My goal was an ENTER of 90.

U never know, u may surprise urself.
SAC scores do get moderated, after all.

Put in the effort, and c wot it yields :)

Hey everyone.

Came across these forums after looking at the handy ENTER calculator and realising I'm most likely screwed :(

Studying Year 12 atm;

  • Methods
  • English
  • Italian
  • Economics
  • I.T. Soft Dev

Bit of a mix in there. I hate Methods..but need a 25 for maths and an ENTER of 87 (Business Information Systems @ Monash Clayton). Really sucks as I only did Methods this year because I thought I might need it. Then I discovered the course I'd like to do, which doesn't require it..I could have done Further and had a much easier year!

What do you reckon I'd need to get on exam in order to get my 25? Not even sure if it's 25 raw or scaled, but seeing as I've 40% average on my SACs..I don't like my chances  :o

From what I've heard, 40% should see you clear 25 in Methods. I know of someone [not from here :P] who finished the exam in about 30 minutes, due to being largely clueless and got 24

Hmm... BBIS (Excaibur is doing that degree).

But to honestly get a 25, u probably need C+'s or C's across both exams.

Hmm well I certainly hope 40% is enough, but not exactly confident about that :P

What would a C / C+ most likely entail? Something like a 50-60%, or is it a lot lower? The whole system confuses me a lot..so hard to estimate everything!

Oh and if it has "a study score of at least 25 in mathematics (any)", is that referring to the actual raw score, or scaled? I ask this because I can get a 20 and still get 25 after it has been scaled. I certainly hope for the latter!

the grade distributions can be found here

basically... if you had gotten 5-8/40 for the tech-free component, you would've gotten a C. If you had gotten 8.5-13.5 then you would've gotten a C+. This does change from year to year however.

Yeah thanks for that, I actually just found out about that in this thread.

Ok, so if I do manage a C average..what am I looking at? Actually probably best to keep this in the right thread, over here.

As I see it, a B+ average would yield something like a 37. So C would be..25? :P

welll i got 37 in methods and my score was A A+ A, so i hardly think its a B+ average.

=/

That really scares me. How can As only be a 37?

I was going off this:

Quote
So lets say if we did Business Management (simple as only one exam and alphabetically near the top), and we predict we will get B+ on the exam, this means that we are somewhere within the top 17-28%. This means that if we showed the same level of achievement in sacs (we didn't stuff around in school all day every day, conversely we weren't A+++++ student and flunked the exam) we can expect somewhere between 34 and 37 (roughly)

So..what gives? Man I'm lost.

the average mark for methods is B, hence B average would give about 30. B+ can go to about 35, and As will get you from mid to high 30s, and straight A+ is 40+

That's really odd. Must have been very low A+, and perhaps everyone else did really well too so it didn't go as high. But that's just me guessing.

Hearing this scares me. A lot.

Ah what Mao said makes a lot more sense. So, C would be more like 20 then? Looks like I'll need a C+ in exam..which, looking at the statistics from last year, is really only 30-40%. Hope that's right!

Straight A+ can get you 39, it's not that uncommon
38 sounds plausible but unlikely but I will bet everything I have that people have gotten A+ A+ A+ 39

20 is the bottom 9% of the state (like 40 is the top 9%). That would be like D or something I'm guessing (given all the UG and E and E+ people get).
C will either get you to 25 or will get you very close to it. C+ and for sure you will meet the prereq
