YES! I love this word!

Words I tend to overuse:

Pertinent, livid, nevertheless, furthermore..., ambiguous, conscience (AMFAS :P), reverberates (I was never aware this was actually a word, but I got the gist of what it meant!), poignant, repent, exacerbates...

Now, words I use out of context :P:

Infatuate, innocuous, repugnant, etiquette (I don't even now why I use this), incredulous, fervent (because it sounds good), plethora (as with fervent), disdain, infers, fastidious, superfluous, sesquipedalianism (yes, I used this word once, my teacher actually accuses me of it!), oxymoron (I thought it meant something else), sophomoric, mendacity, insidious... And many more!

As you can see, I use many more words out of context, than what their honest definitions are. :( But who can help it? :P

YES. Some words you just HAVE to use because they sound so good :P I kept on using random complex words at the start of the year, until my teacher commented to resist using fancy words unless I actually knew what they meant/how to use them.

I've stopped now, though. (About time, might be tragic if that happened in the exam.)

I can't stop though. :( It's like it is an automated response; the harder the word, the more likely I am to use it. ):

In relation to these 'fancy' words, would examiners rather you use simple words whenever possible? However there are limited 'simple' words for the context, so would they take marks off if you repeat these 'simple words'?
