I did.

What topic did you do, and how did you go about it.

I did the first one with the quote then "Is it possible for any of the characters to be free and happy in a world like 1984" or something like that.

I went with a paragraph on why such a totalitarian regimes needs to eliminate freedom and happiness in order to remain in control. A paragraph on winston and julia and how they found freedom and happiness, but it isnt sustainable. Then I spoke about the prole appearing free and happy, but rather their ignorance hides away the fact that they are not really free, as the party still controls and that their ideas of happiness are because of their ignorance and blah blah

It really worked for me! Loved it :)

Haha you just wrote a better and more developed version one mine!

Also chose the first prompt, had no idea about the second.

My main argument was: Orwell shows that freedom and hapiness is possible in 1984, but that only in breif circumstances. I used my paragraphs to talk about how the Party must remove freedom and happiness to succeed(allow only love for BB hence lowering the chance of rebellion). Then I talked about Winstons and Julia's seperate freedom and happiness(they were small. eg the piece of coral and sexual expression), and then their relationship and how that represented happiness and freedom to be possible but unable to be sustained.

Didn't mention the proles - probably should have but what can you do.

I liked this topic and wrote a half decent essay, hopefully I go alright.

I DID!!

But I did Part II.

I think I strayed of the topic but I dunno.

I talked about Winston, where he lives, his rebellious behaviour etc
Then I talked how winston met julia and they knew they were going to captured but still persisted on the journey.
How O'Brien took extra force, putting winston to Room 101, 'til he betrayed Julia. He could have shot him in the head 'vapourised' simply, but he had to do mass torturing blah
No-one knew how cruel o'brien was

Yeah. Hopefully I get a 7/10, pls?

(oh man I have the biggest doubt fuck lol)

I did question 2. Absolutely perfect for my preparation :)

Can't be bothered writing out what I wrote - but I basically said that like Winston the reader carriers a fragile hope that humanity will overcome inhumanity and he will somehow overcome the party - and the shock lies in the fact they can so completely remake him

Interesting. I really tried to explore the topic as complex as I could. I wrote a similar essay and read one last night that was almost the same!! Lucky for me, i remembered the points and elaborated on them today.

Im sure you did fantastically! I'm aiming for an 8!
