Don't feel bad about the threads/responses you are seeing on VCE notes. There are definitely a fair few people doing further maths that really shouldn't be (i.e. their abilities exceed the work) but there is a very much disproportionate representation on these forums, and those who are exceedingly good at maths simply make the 43-50 range very competitive. There is an overwhelming number of students who are of very limited mathematical ability doing further and many also give up, as long as you keep working at it, construct yourself a decent bound reference and make the most of your time before the exam you will easily surpass the average further maths student no matter your base ability.
Although I understand how it can be to do work/revise for a subject you only understand a limited amount of the subject material for (I essentially got lazy sem 2 and stopped doing methods work altogether now I'll have to attempt to revise the entire course in a day). If you are really struggling to understand some concepts just don't bother with them, ensure though that you know all of the coursework you are capable of understanding very well and you'll do fine.
VCE 2007:
-Biology 36 (put it down to pure laziness)

VCE 2008
-English 33+
-Methods 33+--->35 (decided I'll actually revise)
-Further 45-50--->42 (damn exams!)
-Physics 36+
-Psych 40+

yeah your right. i'm just starting to stress cause i began to neglect the subject from semester, only doing work in class when one of my close friends in there would push me to attmept a question instead of just sitting there reading over the question again and again ( i know it sounds pathetic, but i cant explain how much maths depresses me, my math teacher SUCKS TOO !!!!) but yeah when we reached business maths thats when i began to try abit more. but now im just so lost cause of my lack in work throughout the year. i just want a 20 just so i can get into courses that require you to have a 20. but i just keep thinking "im so getting below this, wdh was the point in doing it if i cant even get the ss needed for it to count". ahh would you have any idea how many correct answers i would need in this exam so i can atleast get a decent mark to get me atleast a 20 now=S..

According to last years grade distribution you'd probably need a bit over 50% on exam 1, which really isn't that hard, for most questions you should be able to eliminate blatantly incorrect responses. For exam 2 ~40%. This would have gotton a C on the first exam (where the median is B) and a D+ on the second exam (where the median is C+) It changes year to year but those marks should be easily achievable with a bit of work. Honestly just go through the simple stuff ignore everything else as it seems like it will be time wasted you can definitely get your desired score!

It really just depends on what you've done more work on previously/what you find easiest. I can't really tell which stuff is hard, maybe skip over most of the "de/sesonalising data" section apart from the formula [deseasonalised data= original data/seasonal index], I found it interesting to note that on the examiners report from previous years they said many students had not done any questions on the core but had done the modules, so maybe the modules are easier?
