I'd say although the number who get full marks obviously isn't that high, it's still significant and by no means anywhere near impossible for exam 1. Exam 1 is designed so you have plenty of time, and it typically isn't that hard and won't have any questions where you literally have no idea what to do (as is the case in exam 2). Given that, as long as you know the theory and you're careful it's quite possible. As for:

wouldn't the examiner mark you some small errors "on purpose"  in order to prevent a full mark?  most of the teachers in my country are...........

Then just don't give them any chance to even take marks off. Simple. SM will never have what happened to methods two years ago anyway where they began deducting marks for stupid things because too many people got full marks.

I was reading the spech assesment reports and the average is bout 20/40 for exam 1! i was like how da f?! i thought more like 30/40 at least. But if you want 40/40 just watch out for careless mistakes and your well on you way.

Exam 2 on the otherhand...

i get 40/40 for both neap 06&07's exams..  but not the other companies.. neaps' like the easiest ones..

From what I know, things like wonky parabolas, labelling intercepts as just a single number next to it, rather than coordinate form (yes, stupid I know...It's an internationally accepted convention but pfft, dicks to VCAA) and I assume they got tighter on notation since many people in the state probably can't do proper notation, and maybe even working out.

Doesn't show anything. It's not that hard to finish some of the exam 1's in less than half an hour if you rush it, but the key to exam 1 is proper pacing and not going too fast. Picking up your mistakes after you've done them is VERY hard, so my advice is all this is showing is for you to slow down.

i tend to do that a lot
