ehh this is probably a bit too late but can anyone have a look at question 2b in the graphs and relations module? the answer is 240 but how the hell do you work it out??

edit: lol oops, vcaa exam 06, hahah

Find the x-intercept, so when y=0
50 - (1/8)x = 0
(1/8)x = 50
x= 400

The question is asking for how much further...
So 400-160 = 240 km :)

GRRRR :P

Actually, i have a theory why number patterns and networks were slightly easier than other modules.
If exam 2 supports my theory...then i'll say it haha :P

QUICK QUESTION: When and Why is it better to use the LEAST SQUARES REGRESSION LINE over the 3 MEDIAN REGRESSION LINE?

I don't really know the actual definition or purpose of the least squares regression line

hmm theory?? maybe VCAA wants there to be an even number of enrolments across all four modules.. and hence they made the two with the least amount of students the easiest so that next year more people study it?? :P haha

QUICK QUESTION: When and Why is it better to use the LEAST SQUARES REGRESSION LINE over the 3 MEDIAN REGRESSION LINE?

I don't really know the actual definition or purpose of the least squares regression line

A least squares regression line is used when data shows a linear association with no obvious outliers or extreme values.
The theory behind getting the equation for a regression line is to minimise the sum of the squares of the error between the line and each data point :P <-- i just read that agn, i sounds so nerdy lol

So it is just like the question: does mean or median give a better indication of centre.
The 3 median line is used if there are extreme values of outliers, to smooth out the points.

okay thanks for clearing that up.. i just looked over the 06 vcaa exam and saw one of the questions being 'why is the 3median line better than the least squares line in this scenario'... and wanted to know the answer if it was reversed.

thanks !

well i'm off now. good luck!

lol why what happened?

i need 95 :(
dude i was the worst kid in the school,
i think i got suspended more then 20 times. im serious!!
i got expelled two times,
after i got expelled from this good private school in yr 8,
i reliased i need to puff up a lot.
so i became serious and cut my self from a lot of people.
I kept away from evil, and focused on school.
then relsied im good in maths and chemistry. So this school made me do Further in yr 11.

Good work man!
and good luck :) you deserve an 85 enter or higher for being able to do that!

thanks man,
yeh i never thought i would ever become like this.
Though i wish i can get 90+, but just to lazy.
85 guarantees an entracne to architecture, that's all i want.
Even if i get 99.95 (pfft) i would still choose architecture.
2008: | Further (39) |
2009: | Methods (35+) | Chem (35+) | English (33+) |
Last two: [| Accounting (34+) | Legal (34+)]
ENTER: 85+

2010: | Architecture @ UOM or Civil at RMIT |
