Does anyone know how many marks you could have lost in 2007 for a 45+? i.e. total marks across both exams and total marks across all three GAs.

I'm ranked 1 or 2 for SACs, midyear A+ (lost at least 2 marks..), and end of year probably a high A or an A+ (lost at least 3 marks uggggggh)..teacher and I really hoping for a 45+ but at this stage I very much doubt I can make it.

Considering you seem to have lost very few marks in the exams, I'd say 45+ in very possible!! Good luck!! (I'd love a 40) !!
2007- Psychology (40)

2008- English (40+), Biology (A midyear exam...(38+)), Health and Human Development (45+), Methods (25+), Specialist (?? Over it!)

I got A+ A+ A+, ranked top 3 for SACS, can't remember my exam marks but i think they were both middle of the range A+s, that was a 40.

I got 46 raw with A+ A+ A+, I was consistently ranked about average in my class in SACs, I had about a B+ to A average but my school's SAC marks get scaled up heaps.

Regarding exams, I have no idea how many marks I lost per exam because I didn't get an SoM, sorry!

Yeah, basically all A+s will give you >39 pretty much guaranteed, with the difference between 39-50 on just how high those A+s are. Those top 10 study score points are hard to get!

I'm ranked 1 or 2 for SACs, midyear A+ (lost at least 2 marks..), and end of year probably a high A or an A+ (lost at least 3 marks uggggggh)..teacher and I really hoping for a 45+ but at this stage I very much doubt I can make it.

If you really lost 2 marks on midyear and lost 3 marks on endyear and your SACs aren't moderated badly then you will get 50 (probably). Did you get statement of marks or are you just estimating? Becuase some of the mid-year marking was quite harsh...but then a lot of people scored very highly too.

Top 8% get 40+
Top 9% got A+ for first exam
Expect at least 1% to get A+ on the first exam and not to get A+ on the second exam
Last year for the second exam only the top 7-8% were given A+

In 2007, you could lose a total of 40-something points across the three GAs and get 44. I know someone who lost around 13-marks on the first exam (low A+), gunned the SACs (full marks) and lost around 20-marks on the second exam (high A) and got into the low 40s...so anything is possible.

But then in 2007, you could lose like 7-9 marks on the first exam (which was pretty easy), get full marks on SACs and lose around 1-2 marks on the final exam and get 50. As you know in 2006, you could lose 12 marks on first exam and 3 marks on the second exam (20 GA points) and get 50. So if you seriously think you only lost 10 GA points over both exams 50 is very achievable. However, if you lost more than that than maybe not 50 but 45+ should be achievable.

3 marks is VERY good, that's a very high A+. I lost 2.5 marks on the first exam, about 6 or so on the second and I'll assume full marks on SACs, and well yeh, 49. You can lose plenty in bio, don't worry =T

Wow thanks so much for all the responses :) much appreciated!

Note that I wrote 'at least' that amount of marks when i was talking about how many i dropped :p I think I most certainly fared worse in exam 2 than in exam 1, and no, I did not get a SoM for exam 1 but I went through the exam carefully after I did it. Couldn't bring myself to do that after exam 2, I was gutted about those little 1 mark mistakes I made. SACs - as I said I'm ranked either 1st or 2nd in my cohort with a raw SAC score of 187.5/200 which my teacher told me was already way above the rest of the cohort's scores - no one ever 100% guns my school's bio SACs coz they're pretty challenging, and according to ninwa's estimates, they're apparently moderated very favourably (though, of course not as highly as MHS's lol!)

It's very encouraging to know that you can drop like 40 something marks over 3 GAs to get low 40s! At this rate I would honestly be ecstatic with a score like 43-44. I reckon this year's standards would be approximately the same as last year's, not 2006.

And wow shinjitsu - what an awesome score! Congrats.

It's very encouraging to know that you can drop like 40 something marks over 3 GAs to get low 40s!

Just to clarify, not 40 actual marks. Remember that they double your exam scores but they don't double your SAC scores so essentially if you get full marks on SACs you can afford to lose 20-something marks on the exams (last year that is).
