Quick question on defining question and stating contention

Whilst flicking through my notes I came across:
"DEFINE QUESTION & STATE CONTENTION"

When doing a text response, I've been defining the question by blending into the introduction but for stating the contention, is this a distinct message to the assessor or should I blend it into my introduction and finish off the conclusion with it?

For example:
Othello Text Response - ______
Contention: Othello was wholly responsible...
Intro: Shakespeare's Othello...

The contention is the argument of your essay. You should make it obvious in the introduction, and every paragraph should link back to it.
