Which calculator would you prefer?

Which calculator would you prefer if you were in my shoes?

Ti-84+: I'm much faster on (I would say nearly "touch type"  ::) ) i.e. more familiar with everything and all the functions

or:

CAS calculator: To check the answers of integrals and derivatives, although I don't know how to find the y-intercept, turning points (the basics) and I'm very slow on it.

Got an exam tomorrow and one calculator allowed.

Why is it weird? It's great but I just don't know how to use all it has to offer, as I've hardly used it. :P

anything besides ti-89 is weird to me :P.
anyway, you'll get quicker on the cas if you use it. come exam time you'll be 'touch typing' on it as well.

There was only really one question on the Spech paper this year that required a CAS calculator... I think the last question with the integral of the area between a circle and line from the Argand diagram. But other than that, CAS is basically the same as Ti 83-84. You should know if you have the answer right or wrong anyway. :P

I used a TI-84, and I didn't feel disadvantaged at all as I know how to effectively use a TI-84 to its full capacity.  CAS calculators just encourage laziness.

That said, as the Specialist study design comes closer to the renewal period, there will probably be more CAS-designed questions

I'd opt for a CAS. It's saved me plenty of time in many situations, and any possible advantage in an exam is worth capitalising on.

I feel so outdated, using my pathetic little TI-83 :(

Mind you if I ever need to graph something or calculate something then I just use Mathematica. Either you're not allowed anything in uni exams, or they're open book and you can use your calculate but it doesn't help you anyway.
