I guess it's not only how many subjects you do, but the amount of time and perseverance needed. I mean, for maths and science, obviously A LOT of time is enforced into these subjects to perfect the skills required, and not feel hopeless when exposed to new questions.

For example, with humanities subjects, each and every practice exam has similar, if not identical questions, whereas for maths and science, the questions differ indefinitely and new skills are required. I guess my main point is try to isolate these subjects, and avoid them if possible, because come exams time, there are almost questions which you are bound to have trouble with.

My additional two cents. :P

You're speaking way too much from personal experience there :P I spent no time whatsoever studying for maths and physics because I understood all the concepts and knew how to apply them regardless of what obscure form they came up in. Whereas humanities subjects like english and french I needed to actually spend time on the homework etc. in order to learn things.

I guess I'm just purely atrocious at maths and science. :P Can't be good at everything. :)

But Squance, try to get your sister to take up a Uni subject instead of another 7th subject. Exams aren't all bundled, and I assume it's fun (not going from personal experience. :()

Yeah. I took UMEP Psychology last year. I was such a lazy bum skipping 95% of lectures...and still gettting 71% as a score for both semesters (thank goodness for multiple choice exams!! hehehe!!). It was kinda fun but too much reading and too much to remember.

I'll try and see if my sis wants to do a university subject..but I doubt it. hehehehe
(anyways, aren't applications to do a uni subject in Year 12 closed already?)

i did 6 subjects this year. to be honest 3rd semester was when it hit. i was the only student doing 6 3/4 subjects in year 12 at my school. and to be honest .. it sucked having to study for extra sacs cause of my extra subject. but at the end of the day. i chose what i wanted to do. and i stuck to it. see i dont believe in giving up no matter how hard it may get. also just knowing that extra 10% can help me towards my enter even if its just a 25 in maths. (my weakest subject this year) i would be gratful. as for your sister. 7 subjects seems abit tooooooooooo much. get her to drop physics or spesh. she has 2 weeks at the start of her year 12 studies. get her to start of with the 7 and then once shes started and she doenst like something she can drop it without having to worry about picking up a subject to make it her 6th? if that makes sence?

I did 3 in year 11, and 5 this year. So 8 all up, but I think 7 in one year is too much workload, assuming she wants to stay sane.
It's a good idea to have a few backups I thought, but I had them spread out, and my final year was still a bit too much. I would advise against doing so many. 6 would be max i.e. 5 at school, one distance ed subject.

Maybe you could even fit in some university subject... Nah, that would probably be pushing it. :P

5 at school + 1 uni is too much

I've tried it, ended up abandoning one subject to keep myself together

Well, someone at my school missed out on dong a year 12 subject in year 11, so she ended up doing the worst thing possible. She done 5 subjects at school, another by long distance and a University extension program... Worst thing you can do, and I wouldn't recommend it to anybody as you have limited free time and basically become a recluse in terms of studying incessantly... :(
