Criminal law lecturer:
"Once, I cancelled my bank account but kept my ATM card, and found that I could still withdraw money, it was awesome! I got around $500 before I thought that I probably should stop ha ha ha"

Student: "That's really similar to the case of Kennison v Daire."

Lecturer: "Yep! Just goes to show that these things happen more often than you think."

Student: "Um, [lecturer's name], the defendant in Kennison v Daire was convicted of obtaining financial advantage by deception ..."

Lecturer: "Yeah I know! Oh wait ...... crap, I probably shouldn't have shared that personal story ......"

disclaimer: turns out that he was contacted by the bank and everything got sorted out. Monash does NOT have criminals for law lecturers!!!!!

Physics teacher: Chemistry is just home economics for nerds.

At uni there really doesn't seem to be some war between physics and chemistry as what there is with engineers and physicists.

Physics professor going on about some building accident: "It was the structural engineer's fault for that design, if phycists designed it there would be no problem".

Physics lab demonstrator: "You guys have done chemistry so you guys know about water bonds in more detail than in VCE?"
Me: "No I don't do chemistry"
Physics lab demonstrator: "Then what is your other science subject?"
Me: "Engineering"
Physics lab demonstrator: "You do what? Why are you doing engineering?"

lol it was just priceless, there seems to be some real issue between these guys but none of them explain why. If someone knows why please explain.

lol did you have geoff shute?

Not exactly a favourite quote, more of a disturbing one...

English teacher: Look, all males in this class are going to cheat on their lovers...

Marking attendance.

Tutor: Kate?
Liam: Kate's not here today, it's her birthday.
Tutor: So she gets a day off because it's her birthday?
Liam: Heh... something like that, I guess.
Tutor: Okay then... Sheng? (serious Asian dude)
*No answer*
Tutor: Must be Sheng's birthday too.

"Because you went to Monash you will get a job. You hear that? You will get a job. Even if you know nothing and are full of shit!"

My methods teacher

After marking and handing back log/exponentials test "I still believe that methods students are some of the most creative people at this school! The number of new indicies and log laws you seem to have created amazes me"

OT: How come you're so good at remembering what particular VN members say?

Does this memory work for other things?

I didn't remember anything obscure, on this occasion. I saw ed saifa's post which reminded me of the quotes in his sig and the fact that I'd previously wondered where they came from.

Collin makes a good point, though :)
Mandark: Please, oh please, set me up on a date with that golden-haired angel who graces our undeserving school with her infinite beauty!

The collage of ideas. The music of reason. The poetry of thought. The canvas of logic.

Trying to get me into a corner, eh Ahmad? :)

I'm not sure; so far it has been more for things I'm not consciously trying to learn/remember. We recall things which are significant...memorable to us, so perhaps I'm naturally curious about some details which appear insignificant to others. Although, many things I'm remarked upon for remembering (yes, I admit, also by people outside of VN) seen rather too arbitrary, banal to be at all interested in. So I dunno...
Interestingly, I've been thought to have a similar psychological condition to happypuff, who also had a propensity to remember tiny details on VN.
