Sylvain Raynes is a founding principal of R&R Consulting, a structured credit metrics consultancy founded in 2000. Most recently, Dr. Raynes worked on the originations teams of UBS and CSFB. He developed methods for standardizing the credit risk analysis of exotic ABS the mid-1990s while in the Structured Finance Group Moody's Investors Service. Earlier, at Goldman Sachs he was involved in the statistical modeling of Derivative Product Companies, and at Citicorp he was responsible for the design of the credit scoring model for Citi's then-$30 BN credit card portfolio. Dr. Raynes has a PhD in aerospace engineering from Princeton University and an M.S. in Numerical Methods from Von Karmen Institute in Brussels.

Quick question (s) . Since you're doing finance and all...im led to believe....what are the job opportunities like for graduates with a major in finance? Have they been seriously screwed over by the current economic crisis?
Has recruitment of graduates been seriously affected by this crisis? and if so  how long do you think it will take for major institutions to regain confidence and start actively recruiting.

I am scheduled to graduate in 2012. I have no intentions of changing my Finance and Actuarial Studies specialisation. That should say something.

I was watching some important ceo finance guy on cnn and he recommends that current graduates do their masters or phds because nowhere is really hiring. It's something to consider...

Yeah, a shocking reality it is now. Hence I'm shifting to an accounting (and finance major if my degree will allow it) major now. I'll apply to Mac Bank grad positions though, because they take graduates with many disciplines
