Does anyone have any idea what the required ENTER will be for Engineering at Melbourne Uni?

"Note: From 2008 there are two ways students can embark on gaining engineering qualifications at the University of Melbourne:
- the four-year Bachelor or Engineering; or
- one of the Melbourne Model three-year undergraduate degrees (Biomedicine, Environments, Commerce or Science) followed by a professional Master of Engineering accredited by Engineers Australia."

I guess you mean the bachelor of engineering?

"Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE). Units 3 and 4 - a study score of at least 25 in English (any) and of at least 32 in Mathematical Methods (either). 2008 Guaranteed ENTER: 85"

It's all here :)
http://coursesearch.unimelb.edu.au/

EDIT: what a weird required study score for methods .... 32 =\

Guaranteed ENTER is full-fee, if I remember correctly. The CSP spots go on supply and demand (not decided by the university).

Yeh sorry I have this tendancy to ask a question and then research it. I found all that out and was shocked that my brother had not realised that the minimum methods requirement was 32! He got 31 raw last year so I guess hes not going there lol.

Thanks for that ninwa.
Now we were trying to find out about studying engineering at say RMIT for a year and then transferring into Monash Engineering for 2nd year and what, if any, subjects would be credited from his RMIT engineering course into his Monash one.
And what is the best option... going to Monash and starting a similar degree and then transferring into Engineering 2nd year or going to another institution, studying Engineering and then transferring in 2nd year.
RMIT engineering is not a general engineering degree as it is at Monash in the first year. You specialise from the outset.

Ehh, this is if he doesn't get his 2nd pref @ Monash btw.

Wow, if you get 31 raw for Methods, the maths in engineering is going to seem really hard.

Just to hazard a guess, I would have thought that it would be easier to transfer internally - just a lot less paperwork, correlating of different standards between unis etc. But I would really have no clue lol

I know someone who dropped Law from her Commerce/Law degree at Melbourne. I imagine that is much easier than transferring from Commerce/Law in Melbourne to Commerce at Monash (even though they'd probably accept you). Doing an internal transfer will definitely be much easier.

He could try a transfer from Science at Melbourne to Engineering at Melbourne.

Mmm I think he wants to study at Monash tbh. He just put Melb @ number 1 to increase the scope of his engineering preferences.
So maybe Science @ Monash and then transferring to Engineering? Are certain subjects credited?

If he can't get into Engineering at Monash to begin with, Science at Monash is a good idea. I would say it's most likely that some subjects would be credited. I hear that first year Engineering at Monash is general, which probably means it would overlap with some science subjects.

Usually you can do some subjects outside your faculty as electives, or even have them counted as Science points originally (which is irrelevant, since he's going to transfer to Engineering anyway)

Quote from: Bachelor of Science
no more than 48 points of units offered by another faculty, subject to meeting any entry requirements of that faculty
