Oh, I went to pre departure, and EZ was there too.
Does anyone know how to tell if lectures are recorded? I've just been on the timetable generator, and the first year maths lectures clash with both 2nd year physics subjects running in 1st semester... which does not look good.
In addition, does anyone know what microeconomics entails? Is it mathsy? Considering taking it in first semester...
They'll almost certainly be recorded. Almost every lecture is recorded, especially for the bigger courses like first year maths. The only problem is if you need to watch the lecturer do calculations on the board or something.
People who are commerce students think that micro 1 is mathsy but maths students don't really. It involves solving linear equations and reading off graphs. It does get more mathsy in later years though. I don't have any personal experiences in uni economics though, it's all anecdotal.
Yeah I just checked on Wattle (as I tutored MATH1115 last year) and there are lecture recordings. More important for maths though is that lecture notes are put up online. Other than first year subjects, very few maths and physics (and science in general) courses are recorded, but usually lecture notes are available online. But yeah, don't worry about the clash too much, just concentrate on the subjects that you find hardest.
And as eriny said, micro doesn't really have much maths involved. This is because doing methods in yr12 isn't a prereq for economics at ANU, unlike most other Go8 unis, so they have to dumb it down a bit in first year.
