I was the exact same as you. I never did any work for Maths from Y7-Y10 and I often slept in class. But then the massive jump from Y10 Maths to 3/4 Methods motivated me. It was so strange having to actually learn maths concepts and do the textbook for the first time.
Did you skip 1/2?

ya

I am literally living proof that if you pursue subjects you love, even if they don't scale, you will do better than forcing your way through subjects you are crap at. Methods, I'm looking at you.

yeah start from yr 11 coz yr 12 will be really hard to get in. Also you should prepare for the test, I got raped by it and he said I'm not smart enough for his class :(

of if you have a distinction in the westpac maths comp, shouldnt be an issue :) you can use that instead of sitting his exam

i honestly havent been to dr. he, so i cant comment on if hes good or not though, i'm not a big fan of tuition :)

i got in with a high distinction on westpac :)

i started in year 10 and it was pretty empty because he only tutors "competition math" before VCE. People start to enter when they start methods and some enter in year 12 but by then it would be at a risk cause it fills up pretty fast.

Basically his questions are REALLY hard so that the questions on the exam would seem REALLY easy. Also he points out traps in questions and how to set out solutions so that marks are not lost easily :)

I would recommend going there (if you can get in) and also if you're not scared of getting demoralised by getting poor marks in his exams.. Seriously i was getting less than 50% all the time. (i swear he wanted to kick me out at some point)

look at the grim reality of it, you get a part time job somewhere, you get around $15 per hour or whatnot

you go to tuition, you pay minimum $20 per hour
and usually there's 10+ people in a class (well we're talking 50+ if its jacks)
and that's waay upwards of $100 per hour
where the hell else can you get $100 per hour (MINIMUM)

talk about taking advantage of students' fears!
