hmm i did use both, but i kind of abandoned my myspace :P they have too many errors and plus facebook is really fun with all the applications u can add to play games and such :) plus superpoke RULES :D

plus with facebook i suppose you have more privacy, like only people from the same network as you can view your profile unless you choose for nobody from those networks to, and then when you add/accept people i like that you can restrict what they can see :) better than myspace for sure

oh and yeh i joined up the FSN facebook group :)

Yeah, Facebook is awesome like that :D. It's easy to write apps for it, I've written a simple app so far (an app to embed Flash animations on your profile) :)

Oh, and look at my MySpace: http://myspace.com/daniel_1515
I completely redid the layout, this time hiding all the default MySpace stuff and completely redoing the layout so it's all nice and clean. It's kinda incomplete, and I'm a coder not a designer, but IMO it's still better than a lot of MySpace profiles :P
Here, have a screenshot:

You must provide your full name.

I'm trying to sign up (like i said I would never do, wheee) but it won't let me name myself mel, mel mel, princess mel or mel the queen =/
Can people see your surname when you sign up, so if I put something generic like smith or jones it will be all good?

That's the thing with Facebook - No screen names, it shows your full name.

"Our automated system will not approve this name. If you believe this is an error, please contact our Customer Support team."

I don't think I can convince them any of my names are my real name, somehow xD

Edit - can you change your name after you sign up?

i dont see what the problem is with giving your first and last name, after all you just choose what privacy settings you want, so that people even though they are in the same school/uni/country network as you are cant see your profile. until they add you of course :)

it just seems more mature?.. especially when you dont see people with ridiculous capitals n stuff like if i did this: "eAn weI Hu@Ng" :P just gets rid of the annoying names like that

It's just because I don't want people I don't know in RL (or RL related things) knowing my surname, especially seeing as most of my friends I only know on the internet. Back in the day you weren't supposed to give out personally identifiable information, and the fact that I know on this site I have said enough for someone to work out exactly who I am if they tried is bordering on the edge of what I don't like.
And it's just that I don't trust people I don't know very well. There could be stalkers out there :o

ah well you make a fair point, :P then again if friends want to search for you they wont be able to find you. ahah

if you are asian like myself just use a generic last name (sorry if this is your actual last name :P): Lee, Chan, Wong, etc.

then again you could just go for the old John Smith type :P haha

I just saw someone in the group "Paul Erdos Fan Club" with the last name "Mathislife." Sounds like a real last name if you don't realise it's Math-is-life, haha.
