Its like the kinda forum board thing yeh? whats the differences/advantages/disadvantages. \

Yeah, it's a forum system. This forum is powered by phpBB at the moment.
Main advantage of SMF is that it doesn't suck like phpBB does :P. Nah, take a look at its feature list at http://www.simplemachines.org/. It offers lots of features that phpBB (the software here) doesn't have, and SMF 2.0 even moreso; take a look at http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=163438.0 :)

Also, it allows easier integration into a website. For example, once the FreeStudyNotes site is actually up, we could list all the latest forum topics on the front page relatively easily. And we could even have a login system that's tied into the forum; forum accounts also work on the site (BoS does this on parts of their site, for instance).

Anyways, this is going too offtopic... back on topic... :P

vBulletin's good, but it's not free. It costs quite a lot (US$160 for a license, I think). Take a look at http://www.vbulletin.com/ for more
