I received a text from Monash yesterday saying I'd been awarded a Support Bursary, details in the mail.

Today I received an email from UoM saying I've been awarded a Commonwealth Education Costs Scholarship (CECS), and attached was a pdf with all the relevant information. It entails $6k a year, so I'm very pleased with that.

So lucky. Wanna trade scholarships? I got one 6K Excellence and Equity here for Monash. You like? :)

Also, received a provisional Commonwealth Education Costs Scholarship (CECS) scholarship from La Trobe in the mail today. LOL My 12th preference.
2008 ENTER = 97.90

BCom @ UoM - I love you Melbourne!

I guess I didn't get any. I applied through VTAC when i did my SEAS application. Are they all for like 95+ enters? Confused as to how it works.

I guess I didn't get any. I applied through VTAC when i did my SEAS application. Are they all for like 95+ enters? Confused as to how it works.

My theory:

As I understand it, they read ur SEAS application and give it a ranking or a number depending on how hard u've had it, then they somehow factor that in2 ur ENTER score 2 help them decide who gets the scholarships and who doesn't.

For example:

On a scale of 1 to 10, my disadvantagedness was probably a 2.
97.55 + 2 = 99.55.
.: Enuf 2 get me a "smart and poor person" scholarship.

Another person tho, for instance, may have had it REALLY hard (homelessness/their family died/etc) and got given a SEAS thingy of 9.5.
Say their ENTER was... er... 90.05.
90.15 + 9.5 = 99.65.

*So* even tho I got a higher ENTER than them and we're both disadvantaged, they were far more so and ultimately they would have been offered a scholarship thru SEAS b4 me on a list.

That's my guess anywayz... I don't know exactly how it works, but I've a feeling it's something like that... XD

I do know that universities have lists of names tho... if person rejects a scholarship offer, then the offer goes 2 the next on the list.
