All we did was ask you to substantiate your claims and provide something that could actually fuel the discussion.

Is that too much to ask?

Mmm, in the words of ninwa in IRC: "it's one of those pieces of writing by kids who think theyre so brilliant at english cos they use big words". You're pretty much just regurgitating the line of every single renewable energy expert I've ever heard and seen. It's really nothing new or discussion-fuelling. :-/

Yep that sure is attacking the message. Before you critisize me for being a hypocrite look at your posts

I didn't attack you. Nina did. All I did was quote her. :)

If you do not get it already. I wrote that a year ago. As if I am going to have the sources to it still  considering they were on print outs.

All the information is there. I asked for discussion on the issue. Not on my writing.
As for something new... its an issue so I should be able to gauge the views of others on this issue whether it be an old issue or a new one.

Yeh keep telling yourself that enwiabe

Well then you may choose to believe that I made up every single statistic in that piece of writing but thats your choice ::)

It might very well be the case that you made up your claims, but im not accusing you of intellectual dishonesty. I said that your claims were not substantiated. The only thing we can conclude from nothing is nothing. The only thing we can conclude from an unsubstantiated claim is that it is an unsubstantiated claim.

Stubborn as a mule, you are.

You can't go through life constantly saying things that you can't backup.

"Oh brendan is egotistical!"
"evidence?"
"oh none"

"It costs more than $2.5 billion to make a nuclear power station"
"evidence?"
"some source i found ages ago"
"uh do you remember what it was? that could have been a conspiracy website for all you knew"
"nah man it's true i just lost it"

etc.

It makes you look foolish.

DISCLAIMER:

enwiabe you dickhead, I didn't give you permission to quote my contribution to that short and jocular conversation on IRC.

costargh, I recognise that that was a personal attack on you, and I'm sorry.

As for the actual issue - I think nuclear power is a quick "band-aid" solution to the problem of global warming. I think that renewable energy sources need to be better developed, rather than turning to an energy source which won't add to the greenhouse effect but is still gonna screw up the environment big time in the form of radioactive waste.

Unless we all get superpowers from said waste ... then I have no problem with it ^^

Meh, you made your feelings towards Costa pretty known. Didn't think you wanted them kept private. But oh well. Damage is done now.

errrrm no I didn't. I have no problem with costa - in fact I quite like him and his (mostly) useful contributions to FSN. I just had a problem with the actual piece of writing :P

From now on I will only respond to posts regarding the topic.

Yeh see I don't know much about renewable energy but surely technology will advance to a stage where it would be possible to make solar power a viable option.
I just think it may take a while thats all

Not just solar energy either - but also wind, hydro, geothermal etc. All are quite inefficient now but I'm sure technology for them can be developed more.

I just don't think nuclear power is fixing the problem.

Nuclear Fusion FTW

not a viable source of energy at the moment, as we learnt in chem the technology to control it is yet to be developed sufficiently
