ignore the following post, i didnt read context, cable != adsleverybody is using the same infrastructure, there is no technical speed advantage at any ISP.
the theoretical maximum for residntial adsl2+ is 24mbps.
modems can support the following standards:
adsl1: 8mbps downstream
adsl2: 12mbps downstream
adsl2+ 24mbps
above that you need to be connected through special stuffs not available residentially (fiber optics, FTTN blah blah)
i would also like to express my distaste of telstra and their overpricing bullshit.
speed differences between ISPs mean you may be using different
DSLAMs, but they mostly do not have an advantage of each other, just depends where you live exactly.
edit: oh yeah, im on 8000/318 because all the ISPs have downs and wont build adsl2 at the Bentleigh exchange (delayed blah blah)
