Ooh, sorry to thread jack, but I'm also looking out for a laptop. I need something cheap that I can watch TV on is I put in a TV card. It'll be mostly for work and the internet, I don't really play any games.

What price are you looking at for a laptop that has the bare essentials. Only needed to do word processing, other applications and internet. No games or nothing like that. Really minimal and cheap. Oh plus must be able to connect to wireless internet.

tv card is easy done, u wouldnt need anything fancy... if u want a fairly smooth system (at normal usage) set aside 1500?? if u can put up with occasional lags 1000~1250??
these days brands dont really matter, they all work pretty good, (that's provided they're prominent brands like acer/asus/dell/hp/nec)
or, apple works like a charm :)

um... how about that ASUS ebook (whatever the proper name is) thats going for $500? it's running linux and has the bare essentials :P
