That is probably because, like in Europe, they might need to redesign the phone to be a 3G phone (it is a 2.5G phone) in order to get any kind of market penetration.

In America, 3G hasn't taken much hold. Australia's somewhere in between (leaning to 3G) and Europe is predominantly 3G.

Macbook Air is sweet, but it's really not power users. It's more for consumers that want a thin laptop who only want to use it for basic and/or semi-advanced stuph. But in my unbiased opinion (heck I'm obsessed with apple lol), it's not worth it. I mean, $3000 for what?! A computer that fit in a manilla envelope? It's not that big of deal... jeez, get a MBP, it packs a hell of alot more performance than an MBA (macbook air) [+ mobile penryn core might be coming for the mbps soon :D] and its portable.

This year's macworld isn't that special to me. However, the Time capsule is a fucking magical piece. It's just pure gold. THANKS APPLE (Y)

I'm really thinking about getting a MBP for uni.

Is it really worth waiting for the Penryn/multitouch? Because waiting will be hard ;)

(This years Macworld wasn't that special for me either)

Wait til June, I can expect a MBP upgrade mid-year. If not, just purchase one now.

But really,  the penryn and menom (can't spell) chipsets won't really make _that_ much of a difference (unless you're a real power user which then I'd strongly recommend to wait), if you can't wait just buy it now. Really, nothing major is going to happen to the MBP anyway [for now :P ]. (like major as in a power efficient quad core lol)

major difference in the penryn is the die shrink to 45nm. Apparantly theres going to be a Penryn Quad Core Mobile Processor for laptops sooner than i expected...

I can't wait 'till Nahalem comes out which is rumoured to be the transition from 4 cores to 8  :D

Yeah. The 65 to 45 nm shrink is effing awesome, but if he's using it for basic multi-tasking and basic stuph then menom is just as good.

But, since you're doing Science at melbourne I strongly recommend you to wait. This is because the 45nm shrink allows for HELL alot more performance.
