costa, from your description i dont think you would have the expertise to reinstall windows after format either.

whatever you did, its definitely a freakin virus, so here are what i think your viable choices can be:

1. buy a new computer (I recommend this, as it seems that your computer is quite old, with USB 1.0/1.1)
also that you should get vista with the new computer, its a lot more friendly for not-so-IT-savvy people
also download avast! or AVG and some firewall (like Commodo or ZoneAlarm) to protect your computer from now on

2. see a technician, pay about $100~150 to get it all fixed. (or find whoever u bought it from, but your warranty would no doubt be out)

it is viable to make backups, but when you put it on your restored/new computer, make sure you scan it first before you transfer ANYTHING. reinfection can be a major pain.

Im getting a new laptop in the coming weeks. Am sposed to order it tonight. This computer is sposed 2 be left to my parents for their business but with all the crap thats wrong with it... no idea.

A good sign is that I went into safe mood and delted the folder that kept building up. I delted Limewire and other programs I dont use.
I've downloaded kapersky and doing scan now. Seems alrite. Its finding quite a few things and either disinfecting them or deleting them(I dont know if i should be deleting them but oh well)

Now I need to know how to clear my external harddrive..can i just manually go to the folders i want deleted and delete them? or will that corrupt the drive?
Then I am going to put ONLY the files I need like mr VCE files, My dads business stuff and my brothers Uni stuff and fuck putting the music and stuff on cause that is what seems to be the problem.

Does that sound like a start?

never pay a retard technician that charges $90/hr for something you could've done easily for free and simply required about 2-3 hours of your time.

Well Ive basically spent the last 2 days trying to make this stupid computer bareable (wrong spelling?) until I get my laptop (my bros gettin a laptop too). Its annoying cause Ive been wanting to study but I cant.

i would suggest

connect your external hard-drive, and right click on the icon in my computer, then format it (with the default settings).

that will make sure it's absolutely clean.

ps: "bearable"

having limewire or music isnt that bad, but the problem is that you use the internet with no anti-virus program. that's like, walking into a minezone blind.
you should really download a free antivirus, like avast or AVG free, they do the job quite well, and doesnt really interfere with what you do.

I'd always wanted to have some form of permanent anti-virus software installed on my computer about a year after I got it (when I became a bit more educated about IT stuff) but every time I would try to put an anti-virus program on my computer it would go spastic. Once I nearly lost my computer cause everything would just freeze whenever I turned my computer on. Having Kapersky on at the moment is the most stable my computer has ever been while under the protection of an anti-virus program.

Thanks for the suggestion on my external hard drive. I will do it either tonight after work or tomorrow.

the "going spastic" is probably because your computer was already infected prior to installing anti-virus. they generally have some self-protection mechanism...
