My Computer Cpu Question

Ummm i opened my computers case so i can see its insides umm and its cpu much bigger that my old computers like double the size and its fans and like the size of my hand and i got to fans but why is the cpu so big?

By CPU are you referring to the tower or the processor?

How did you take off the fan without damaging the CPU (unless I'm seriously underestimating your hardware ability)?

You'll find that the CPU underneath the fan/heatsink is much smaller.

i meant the heat sink its way to big lol i think its just big but why?
