Just wanted to know if anyone was doing the UMAT test this year? Because I was going to but I might not get into the course I want.

I don't think you can actually fail it. You just do really badly.

Yeah I am sitting the UMAT. I don't think I'll be doing any courses which require it, really, (even though nursing should) however I want to do it anyway, as I am highly interested in the medical field, and I want to have done it just incase I change my mind during the COP period or something. Like if I suddenly decided I wanted to be a physiotherapist.

I am having frequent doubts about my intended career path (one day I'll be like, 'Ok, I'm going to be a nurse, and then I'll be like, 'oh, but should I be an occupational therapist?! etc), and I am changing my mind frequently. I am interested in the health/helping/people industry

AHH. WHAT DO I WANT TO DO WITH MY LIFE?!!!!?

End rant/ pointless story

That's great for the people who run it, all that money from people that have no hope of getting into medicine...

come to think about it, yeah....

but 17,000 is a lot of people, that's like, a third of VCE (or more)

however, Bachelor of Biomedicine (New generation) at UoM no longer requires UMAT... at 95 ENTER, i suppose its slightly easier than before?
(then you also get those who dont survive the first three years, or dont get into masters, etc)

Biomed never required the UMAT pre Melbourne Model.

haha, yeh the GAMSAT is a 5.5 hour exam they make you sit on one day. For some graduate aspirants it took a number of years to attain an acceptable score for entry to a med course. The monash course will experience a tremendous boost in the calibre of applicants this year, and victoria will increase its reputation as the most competitive state for undergraduate entry. Expect the UMAT score for monash med to be heavily inflated from last year. Usyd made the same move a number of years ago and now UNSW has one of the most prestigious courses goin around despite nearly losing their accreditation in 2004. The UMAT is ages away guys, don't worry about it, and for the love of flying speghetti monsters please stay away from umat prep courses. A certain organisation is presented by a individual who seemingly enjoys dulling the enthusiasm people have for the courses. Both dent and med
