The iPhone's apps will continuously add functionality to the phone. I mean the draw back of MMS and video camera is easily solved by installing apps. The sky's the limit.

Actually, the prices as quoted by Steve Jobs in WWDC will be a maximum of $199US worldwide for the 8GB and $299 for the 16GB model.

Holy shit. That's not very expensive. OK, it's time for me to harass my mother ;)
yeah Steve Job's mentioned how affordibillity would allow them to reach their target of 10 million iPhone sales.

The sky is not the limit when Apple is controlling the hardware and operating system.

Yeah, but it's understandable why they don't want developers screwing with the OS (but developers do have full access to the hardcore, including camera, a-gps, accelometers etc) because, they may create background processes which take up unnecessary cpu cycles -- limiting overall user performance.

They are ultimately shooting themselves in the foot because it is the hackers that actually make the cool applications.

Yeah, but they are really endorsing developers. I think the iFund has like $100m (yes $100m lol) for development of iphone applications.

But it sucks not have complete control of the OS, but they do have some... within the app LOLZ.

Access to certain syscalls is not the equivalent of having complete access to the hardware.

Oh yeah, how every true. At least they get to use all of the iPhone hardware features, though. Building that baby sega game lol was pretty neat, built in a short time period.

I'm going to give the iPhone a miss for a few months while all the teething issues are sorted out. Also, will wait until I see some I can buy outright without being locked into a contract.

THANKS FOR BETA TESTING THE DEVICE FOR ME EARLY BIRDS xD

No details of Australian contract prices are out yet, but Optus and Vodafone both say they'll have the iPhone on affordable plans and available pre-paid or on contract.
