[Core] Centre of Distributions

Hi, I'm in Year 12 next year and I'm doing some preparation work.

At the moment, I keep getting stuck at trying to work out the centres of distribution. Is there any mathematical process involved in doing so? So far, it's been all guesswork and I don't know how to 'properly' derive it. This goes for stem/leaf plots as well as histograms. Sometimes, it seems to be the median but other times - it seems to be completely random.

It's great to see you're already getting a head start!!

Anyways, i don't exactly understand what you are asking...
And i don't have that book...

Is the question asking what would give a better indication of the center of the distribution? ie, median or mean?
Or is it asking for a value?
If it is a value, and u have the data points, yes there is a mathematical process, not guesswork. Just place the data in "stat" ... then "calc" "1-var stats" and you will be given both the median and the mean.
