From my experience, the teacher doesn't go through the novels per say, they just discussed key issues of the novels.

In your opinion (others are welcome), do you think that More is selfish?

You can argue both ways. Generally though you'd want to come to the ultimate conclusion that he is not.

You'd want to discuss reasons both for and against.
eg. if u wanted 2 say that More was not selfish, you could start by sayin "he may be seen as selfish by the audience because his refusal to sign the Act put his loved ones lives in danger and their quslity of life was dimished."

however u will want to after the first body paragraph start showing why he is ultimately not selfish. ie. "However, the audience is led to believe that More is not selfish because Bolt illustrates that a mans conscience is more important that a mans life, and it is his willingness to die to preserve his conscience that allows him to show qualities tht replicate a man who is unselfish."

One of the best texts to study for IMO (which is why I rejected LBW and decided on AMFAS for the exam. :D)

oh a play! would you consider it better than the crucible? If you've read it that is.

I've read The Crucible and can honestly say that whilst Proctor's inability to give in to the crime of witchcraft was a riveting and exciting tale, I liked More's stand against signing King Henry VIII's oath to divorce his wife and marry his mistress a little bit more. I guess it comes down to your taste in plays and how much you appreciate the story and context. (I would write on The Crucible in context, though. ;))
