select according to how you want yourself to be perceived, not what you actually feel.
I actually selected according to how I feel, because I really don't give a damn how I'm portrayed on a forum where most of the people don't know me :P
I just happen to be very ... erm ... homophilic?

I'm Sorry, but this whole thread is a bit of a joke

i think it's quite funny to be in a society where we celebrate the fact that we tolerate people.

You truly are great people for being tolerant, how nice of you.

You have to really laugh at people who proudly announce that they're not homophobic, like its an amazing and rare skill, to be tolerant of others. I realise that there are people who are not tolerant, but it must by no means be considered a virtue, it should be an assumed quality that people have.

I don't mean to be condescending, but i've spent alot of time listening to people telling me how awesome they are, because they're tolerant of others

Actually, judging from the people I've met in my life so far, it IS a very rare skill, especially in relation to homosexuality.

“Tolerate” isn’t the right word to use in this context. (I really hate it when people say they are "tolerant" of black or gay people for example, and think they are so amazing and accepting etc.)

When you state that you “tolerate” one’s sexual preference or race, you infer that you are putting up with something negative. You are not.

“Tolerating” is, for example, enduring a disease or a virus, or someone’s horrible habits (such as, oh I don’t know, tolerating your friend picking their nose constantly or something. I for example, tolerate my boyfriend’s extremely smelly feet after he plays sport.)

/end rant.

but that is the tone of this thread, people big noting themselves because they are accepting of a person's particular preference

haha

I hardly think people here are "big noting" themselves - they are simply putting up the score they received in the survey test thing which the OP put up a link to. What's wrong with that?

Mmm... interesting point by BA22. Yeah, we should be pursuing bigots rather than celebrating "tolerance."

It doesn't really hurt to celebrate tolerance though.

Very much agree with BA22 and Jess, although the more "homophobes" [lets hope they are passionate engineers] there are, the rarer  it is to be non-homophobic
